Simon Bush lives in Ghana and leads on Sightsavers’ work on neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). He manages the NTD department in Sightsavers which is responsible for the leadership and management of a large portfolio of NTD work that covers over 30 countries. Sightsavers reached a distribution milestone of over a billion supported NTD treatments in 2018 – an event that was celebrated with Professor Stephen Hawking. The next billion supported treatments is now a work in progress.  Simon left university in 1983 and went to teach in Sudan.  He joined Sightsavers in 1999 as the Regional Director for West Africa based in Accra after previously living and working in the West Bank and Gaza, Egypt, Ethiopia, Eritrea (where he was the first British Honorary Consul) and Lesotho. He has an MSc in development management from the Open University. Simon is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a trustee of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.
