Professor Wei is a professor of Risk Analysis, Risk Response Strategy, and Global Risk Mitigation, at the School of Management, and the deputy dean of School of Public Affairs, University of Science and Technology of China. As the first or corresponding author, he has over 100 peer-reviewed articles published in highly regarded international scholarly journals, including Strategic Management Journal, Risk Analysis, and others. Prof Wei was supported by the outstanding Young Scientists Fund from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) in 2020, and by the Excellent Young Scientists Fund from NSFC in 2015. In 2016, he won the First Prize of the Colleges and Universities’ Outstanding Scientific Achievement Award (in natural science) from the Ministry of Education of China. The policy report formulated from present studies has been fully adopted by central government department. He also serves as a committee member of the China Society of Emergency Management, and as the associate editor of Chinese Management Studies Journal. His current research about COVID-19 focuses on public risk perception of COVID-19, and global response measures and strategy.
